My city is a changin'.

I know that my home town is changing, it has been for many years. Every time I came home there was a new high rise, missing tree, new stop sign, Starbucks, trendy restaurant... but much to my delight, there was always the staples like Benny's, the dog park and my ma's house.

Tanya and I went on a little adventure this afternoon downtown, saw one of the newly renovated hotels, The U.S. Grant (which was well done by the way), and wandered the streets of the Gaslamp.

There were some buildings that even after all these years I had never noticed and are truly beautiful structures and then others that have changed greatly. The old Aztec Theatre is now a Ghirardelli ice cream parlor, what used to be a great (relatively) cheap place to get tasty sandwiches and food in 'Little Italy' is now an upscale full service restaurant and it's located next to a cute new little plaza with a fountain.

Cool Old Building I

Cool Old Building II

Cool Old Building III
(plus cool old add on side of building with shot out to Figaro)

What used to be the Aztec Theatre.
This is where I saw 'Crocodile Dundee', when I was a little kid, just in case you were thinking I went as an adult to go see 'Crocodile Dundee'.

Like I always say, "change is good", but every now and then it's kinda hard to stomach. It's funny, I can't always put my finger on why... is it because I want it to be the way it was when I was young and life seemed so simple, or is it because as things get pricier and pricier much of the change excludes me, or is it really a sadness for the 'culture' I feel is being lost. I don't know, just some ramblings for you my one blog reader.

This would be the above mentioned fountain in the cute new plaza.

Tanya enjoying a lovely pinot noir...
can't remember the name, it was that good!

I like red wine, olive oil and mozzarella cheese.

The sunset over San Diego Bay, a marvelous thing.

Hope you're all well!

Love,
